Mental Health Matters - It is worth reaching out for help

In my journey, reaching out for help was a daunting task. Acknowledging the need for assistance, especially from someone unfamiliar, felt like an insurmountable hurdle. Yet, I came to realize the vital importance of prioritizing my mental health and accepting that it's okay to not always be okay.

For me, art became an integral part of my healing process and a means of giving back. Creating art gave me a sense of purpose and served as a channel to process the chaos within my mind. It offered a refuge from my troubles and became a form of mindfulness practice.

Throughout my journey, I've found solace in quotes, one in particular resonating deeply: "When things change inside of you, things around you change." Initially, I resisted seeking help, fearing labels, stereotypes, or being treated differently. However, I eventually realized that seeking help marked the beginning of a positive transformation.

Accepting assistance wasn't easy; even now, I sometimes find myself pushing back. However understanding this aspect of myself allowed me to find a supportive community and the courage to confront my struggles.

It's easy to overlook the need for help, to underestimate its significance. So, I urge you to reach out—for yourself, for your mates and for your family. You're not alone in your struggles, and seeking help can be the first step toward healing and growth.

In my own way, I contribute to the well-being of both nature and community by drawing endangered Australian flora and fauna. This act of giving back has been instrumental in my mental health journey. It serves as a reminder that, despite the challenges we face, we are all interconnected, and supporting one another is essential as social beings.
