Killara Kangaroo Print A3
Killara Kangaroo Print A3
‘Killara Kangaroo’ is one of a series of eight I am working on, representing the States and Territories of Australia.
The name Killara is an Aboriginal girl’s name. Coming from the Dharug for permanent or always there, Killara is the perfect name for her given that Kangaroos have always been here like our First Nations People.
The Red Kangaroo is the fauna emblem of the Northern Territory and the Sturt Desert Rose is the floral emblem.
Flowering plants including, the Sturt Desert Rose (Killara’s hip), Sturt Desert Pea (critically endangered), Typhonium Praetermissum (ears), Planchonia Careya (fluffy ears), Utricularia Singeriana (nose), Erythroxylum Cholmondely (legs & feet), Acacia Equisetifolia (Graveside Gorge) and rare endangered NT Flannel Flower, form Killara's features and body. Vulnerable species include The Darwin Palm (face), Desert Quandong and Clematis Decipiens. Non-threatened flora consist of Batwing Coral tree, Blue Flax, Pink Hakea, Leichhardt Tree and Eucalyptus Miniata.
Due to its delicate state, framed artwork is available exclusively via local delivery or pick-up on the Sunshine Coast. If shipping is desired, please arrange a courier with the artist after purchase.
